Until the relevant sections of the Gambling Regulation Act 2024 are commenced, the existing licensing regime will continue to operate. Therefore, licensees should continue to engage with the relevant bodies below for licences:
Betting: Revenue Commissioners
Gaming Licence: Revenue Commissioners
Gaming Permit: An Garda Síochána
Lottery Permit: An Garda Síochána
Lottery Licence: District Courts
Totalisator Licences: Department of Finance
For the avoidance of doubt, Revenue Commissioners will continue to issue betting licences in 2025 to allow for the smooth transition of licensing regimes. The Gambling Regulation Act 2024 has also reduced these Revenue licence terms for bookmakers and intermediaries from 24 months to 12 months.
